We wake up at La Graciosa and say goodbye from the first Ferry loaded with our bags that we leave in Lanzarote again with a perfect organization of Vulcan Bike – Lava Track.
Already with a little laziness but awake we start the route from the Port of Órzola. This 3rd Stage of the Vulcan Bike – Lava Tracks from Órzona to Famara is the most “alpine” of all. Not only because we climb the highest levels of the island of Lanzarote, but because we have the strongest ramps in the whole island, 20%. But as always. Pedaling after pedaling is done … and no … foot on the ground that is also mountain biking.
We leave the LZ-204 road enjoying aloe plantations and after a couple of kilometers we turn right towards the La Quemada de Órzlola volcano. Right at this point. The Salt Fountain Valley is where the strongest ramps are.
After passing this, we will face the antennas of the Mirador del Rio of 482 meters. Above the Famara Risks. From where we can enjoy magical views of the active salt mines of the Rio, El Rio and La Graciosa Island and the Natural Park of the Chinijo archipelago and its islets. And of course, the magnificent work of the Mirador del Rio, one of the most representative architectural creations of César Manrique.
We leave the Risks of Famara down the road that crosses them, fearful rise in the IM of Lanzarote. We are diverted to Las Rositas, again to contemplate the views from the risks.
We continue towards Guinate and the Valle de Guinate, its Radio Far and we reach the village of Haría or take a snack.
We follow the route through the Barranco de la Tenesía and climb again towards the Mirador de Haría and the Penyes de Chache where the Radar of the Air Control Center is 671 meters above sea level, which is the highest point in Lanzarote. We continue on a long descent through the Las Nieves Hermitage and we arrive at Teguise and from there to La Caleta de Famara which is our final destination of stage.
