We started the Montes de Valsaín and more specifically from the parking area of the Puente de la Cantina just after the Siete Revueltas in the direction of Segovia.
In this place, the river Eresma is born from the confluence of several that descend from the slopes of Peñalara, Siete Picos and Montón de Trigo and that form the Valle de Valsaín. We started the route following the Arroyo del Puerto del Paular and enjoying its sound, its beauty and the temperature as we started when the day was born. Further on, we take a detour through the Camino de la Sotera, and then continue climbing towards the Puerto de Navacerrada through the Arroyo de las Pintadas.
From the Port of Navacerrada and leaving the Tracks of the Ski Station of Puerto de Navacerrada to the right, although a piece of the climb we do it for it, but it can be avoided. We head towards the Alto de las Guaramillas or popularly known as the Ball of the World of 2268 meters above sea level and characterized by its known TV antennas in the form of rojiblancos rockets.
From this point and leaving the Cirque de las Guaramillas and the Valdesquí Winter Station on the right, we cross the whole of the Norwegian Hill and arrive at the Puerto de Cotos by the signposted PR-M31.
The return to our starting point. We do it from the Puerto de Cotos by the Camino Viejo del Paular, GR-10.1 and at the end we take the path of the Canaleja that takes us to the Cantina Bridge.
Very good route to do at any time of the year. Very complete 22 km and 1,000 m gives + but very easy to follow.
