Sierra de Gredos – Source of Tormes river

We stated from the town of Navarredonda de Gredos to pedal through the limits of the Sierra de Gredos Regional Park.

We start by going down the Prado Viejo and going along the GR-293 to Vueltas con Gredos (Stage 14 S. Martin del Pimpollar – Navarredonda). We continue towards Cepeda el Serrano and then Prado de Navahondilla.

Upon arriving at the Prado de la Zorra. We also joined the GR10 from Valencia to Lisbon (Stage 33). But in the Cerro de las Navarenas, we will stop for the moment and continue with the GR-293 turning left and parallel to the stream of Gargante de Navarenas and that will take us to San Martín del Pimpollar.

We will leave San Martín following the same GR-293 to Vueltas con Grecos (cover 13 to Puerto del Pico) and that will take us up by track, the road from San Martin del Pimpollar to Cordel, passing through Las chorreras de San Martin del Pimpollar. A cliff of waters of the sum of the Arroyos del los Trampales and the Arroyo del Pinar.

Further on we leave the GR-293 that goes up to Puerto del Pico and we continue straight until we meet the GR-10 again, now in the reverse direction than before. And that leads us to roll where we used to see. And that we will leave to divert to Cepeda el Merchán. And then take the signs for the Local Path R.4A Nacimiento del Río Tormes. That can be seen symbolized with a goal of three granite slabs forming the jambs and lintel in the middle of the meadow.

Then we undo the road and continue straight until we meet the GR-10 again where we turn left. To look for the Garganta del Cuervo at its confluence with the Tormes River, which, even though it is very close to its source and I feel the middle of August, already has enough flow.

In this point. Together at the Navagredos campsite, we take the small road to Valdeascas that goes up to the Cuestas de los Barreros and that we go down cutting the road along parallel paths. We arrive at the Plaza de Toros and we are already in Navarredonda de Grecos where we have started the route.

COMMENTARY. It should be noted that almost the entire route is done passing gatekeepers and that in these lands they are full of Avileña-Negra Iberian cows that for some people can be intimidating due to their large antlers.
