Today was a special day. Our French friends Fabienne and Olivier visited us and we wanted to show them a classic but beautiful route. So early in the morning we went to the Port of Navacerrada where curiously in the middle of August we were at 6ºC.
We begin to climb the sober slope of the Ball of the World on PR-17 to the Mirador de los Riscos de los Emburriaderos. From where we contemplate the views to the Towers of Madrid. We return up to the Ventisquero de la Estrada where we take the cemented track that takes us to the top of the Guarramillas, or more popularly known as the Ball of the World of 2,258 meters above sea level.
There we take the PR-16 that will take us to La Maliciosa, passing before going down the Collado del Piornal where we contemplate several flocks of mountain goats. … and little by little we reached the top of the Malicious with its geodesic point, today painted red, at 2,227 meters above sea level.
Curiously we find another herd of goats that we photograph quietly.
We return unpacking the way to the Ball of the World and from there we return to the Port of Navacerrada on the northern slope of the Ball. Easy lowering with small stone.
Classic route with an unusually cold day to be at the beginning of August but that has served to show Fabianne and Olivier this magnificent treasure of the Sierra de Guadarrama.
Thanks for coming!
