We start the route leaving the town of Gata and taking the path of Camino de la Almenara. The path slowly climbs us as we stroll through fields of ferns and oaks. Always watched by the Torre de la Almenara.
We arrive at the La Subida de la Almenara track and there we take the path that goes up to the Torre de la Almenara. Dating from times of Moorish occupations.
From then on, we make the way down and on the track we turn left to follow the Path of Ascent to the Almenara, but in this case it goes down to the Gata Reservoir.
The entrance was open and we took the opportunity to visit it.
We go down to the intersection of Highway CC-6.2, right where Puerto de la Cruz de Piedra is.
Then we go down the path PR-CC 189 Ruta de Las Fuentes that runs along the Roman Road and takes us to Gata crossing the Negrón River.
