The route starts from Arenas de San Pedro and more specifically, from the medieval bridge over the Arenal River. It is signposted under the name of PRC-ASP 1 Ruta de los Pescadores. It is really easy and there is no loss due to its good signage.
The route has two well-differentiated parts. From Arenas de San Pedro to Los Llanos. The right bank of the river, seen in the direction of its current, is calm and has a track and a few paths. The kilometers pass quickly and the environment is beautiful. Sound of water and song of birds. And without realizing it, it is in Los Llanos next to the ruins of the Hermitage of Los Lanos. At this point, the Arenal River is crossed by the asphalt bridge of the AV-P-709 highway and the return begins. This part is undoubtedly the most beautiful. You are all the time next to the river, you can make stops to enjoy it and the entire route is a path. Slower but infinitely more fun.
In addition to its small steps of logs to save streams, highlight the Pozo Quirol Bridge raised over the Arenal River, as the most colorful building.
From there, all that remains is to recover the path to come and return to Arenas de San Pedro. Southeastern population of the Sierra de Gredos Regional Park.
