We make a trip to the Serra da Estrela, in the center of Portugal. And we settled in the small mountain town of Valhelhas and more specifically to the hotel Soadro do Zezer. Place 100% recommended with special mention to its restoration!
We started the route rolling comfortably by tracks, without much accumulated unevenness, in cultivation areas until the ascent to the town of Seixo Amarelo begins. Here we can contemplate the sights and the horrible actions of the fires.
We continue climbing around a line of wind turbines to enter the interior of the Serra da Estrela in more wooded areas and enjoying the vegetation (oaks, pines, chestnuts and ferns).
We make a great circle in the interior of the Northeast half of the Serra da Estrella surrounding valleys. With the final climb to the surveillance point of Cabeço da Azinha where we contemplate the size of the sierra.
The fall went directly to the town. The final part is beginning to cover the tracks by vegetations due to lack of use.
We finished the route to the Velhelas river pools eating at your bar.
Long route, but for a very recommendable environment and people!
