We started from the small French town of Gilette, from the Regional Natural Park of Préalpes d’Azur and we have to make one of its routes marked as the Gorges de l’Esteron.
We begin the descent towards Géa de Poumier following the yellow marks that will accompany us all day.
On the trail we pass through Moulestre and the Font de Daiméou and finally do not take the D-17 road. But after a few meters we deviate along the track that immediately narrows to a path and that leads to the beautiful Pont de la Cerise, elevated over the Gorges de l’Esteron.
We cross the Bridge after taking several photos and contemplating the force with which the Esterón passes through this gorge. And we continue, initially ascending its course through the walls of its right bank.
Later we arrive at Fougassière. Where we cross the small river Bouyon Rau, tributary of l’Esteron, by a bridge.
And following our path we go to La Clave, where we cross the Esteron River again through its suspension bridge. We only have the last ascent of the day. We start it by La Clue, the Beou Sec and finally, by the botanical path, we arrive at our departure village, Gilette.
Nice route for a quick foray into the Préalpes d’Azur Regional Natural Park, very close to Nice.
