We moved to the south of the island from our magnificent accommodation, Hotel Rural Era de la Corte, to make an impressive route through the Natural Park of Jandía.
We left from the Las Gaviotas Urbanization. And more specifically from the Volcano Bike store where we rent the bikes.
Initially we rolled down the Valluelo de la Cal stream towards the sea coast where we circulated along the promenade with its bike lane passing through the Morro Jable lighthouse and if town to continue south along the track, quite busy with tourists with cars.
At the height of the Great Valley, we stop to see the mountain pass where we would return … although it is impossible to understand because of its great size and verticality.
We continue quietly along the track towards Jorós Mountain. We passed the Valley of the Mosquillos and in the area of Las Pilas we already turned inside upwind with the wind through the track of the Barranco de Agua Oveja until it passes, Degollada de Agua Oveja where a strong wind hits us.
Continue down the track observing the goats in the wild of Fuerteventura until the town of Cofete. There begins the ascent by the PR FV 55. The beginning of the path passes next to the Winter House which is associated with various popular legends, such as the one that affirms that it was a refuge for Nazis or the one that assures that it served as a supply station for German submarines during World War II. Legends apart. What is going to be a reality is the final stretch of the path. Arriving at the Degollada de Cofete, it is impossible to ride with the bike, with what you will have to push it. But is it worth it. Afterwards, you will be waiting for a nice descent through the Great Valley parallel to the ravine of the same name.
The end of the descent is La Solana where we get together with the way back along the coast to Morro Jable, where we stop to eat something, and continue to our starting point.
Impressive route through the area of the Jandía Natural Park, where you discover its beaches, stories, steps through its slaughtered and you receive, through osmosis, its strong winds.
If you want to mountainbike Fuerteventura. This is without a doubt, the ROUTE!
Natural Fuerteventura! Enjoy it!
