Vulcan Bike – Lava Track 1st Stage: Puerto del Carmen – Orzola

We are ready to do the Lava Tracks – Vulcan Bike Classic in 5 stages.

After an extensive Briefing of the Lava Tracks, everything prepared, route book, hotels, and restaurant recommendations, bikes rented on Vulcan Bike and with official tracks loaded on GPS. And I mention the official tracks, as these guys, Maxi and Justo, do not stop improving the routes and it is not worth using the ones from previous editions.

The first stage is from Puerto del Carmen to Orzola or we will take the Ferry that will take us to La Graciosa Island.

It is a coastal stage and where you pass the towns of Playa Honda, Arrecife, Costa Teguisse. This section is the urban month of the whole route, but it will allow you to enter the island of Lanzarote and go adapting to it and rolling on lava.

The first time you leave the coast behind you is to face the first ascent to Las Honduras but calm you will immediately descend again to the coast. By now you have been immersed in the most natural landscape of this UNESCO Biosphere Reserve island since 1993.

Then you will pass through the salt mines of Uncle Joaquín, now abandoned but that you can still see perfectly its network of eras and canals. And a little later and touching the previous ones we have the Salinas de los Agujeros with very little use. Continue along the coast crossing the Urbanization of Los Cocoteros along the coast and you will leave the ocean behind you for the second and strongest climb of the day, the village of Guatiza. We go through a volcanic landscape to the coast crossing the nudist urbanization of El Charco del Palo and pedaling we arrive at Arrieta, Punta Mujeres and Los Jameos where we have already made the long asphalt straight that will take us to Orzola. Where we take the Ferry very tired not because of the distance or the difficulty of the route, but because of the strong front sail that we have had all day.

We pass to La Graciosa Island with our luggage, hotel and Ferry perfectly organized by friends of Vulcan Bike Lanzarote.
