We are getting closer to stepping on snow in the Guadarrama mountain range. But as you know, this happens only rarely, and when it does, mountaineers and visitors go crazy and occupy all the parking lots. With the ones we stayed in lower levels to go to La Barranca, but even so, the parking lot filled up and we had to start from the urbanization.
So we started parallel to the road on the side trails. Soon we reached the reservoirs of the Pueblo de Navacerrada and the Ejercito del Aire. Both were together and partially frozen.
Passing the picnic area of the Recreational Area Las Vueltas, we went up to the left to take, cutting, the Ortiz Path. Here we already started stepping on snow and enjoying the views of the Barranca Valley.
Going up we reached the end of the path, we reached the Sanatorium Viewpoint. There we also cut to save ourselves a turn and appear on the Barranca Path.
Soon we reached the Barranca Viewpoint or Canchas Viewpoint where we enjoyed the West wall of the Maliciosa and the Bola del Mundo… and even the distant view of the 4 Towers of Madrid.
Going down the Barranca Path we cut through the parallel path to the Peña Cabrita Brook which will take us down passing through the Mingo Fountain towards the PR-M17/PR-M26 which were our access.
Now we just have to continue along the Almorchones Path to our starting point where we had been able to leave the car.
