This time we are going to do a classic hiking route in the area. The ascent to the Urbasa, Baiza and Santa Marina mountains from Bakaiku.
We started it through what are considered remains of the old Roman road and that leads us to the pass of the Port of Lizarra, where there are megalithic remains of the Dolmen dolmen Etxarriko portugañe 1 mendebal and dolmen Etxarriko Portugañe 2 ekialde.
Then we have to visit the Baiza summit of 1,182 meters above sea level, also formerly called Maiza and which is the highest summit in the northern part of the Sierra de Urbasa above the Burunda valley.
We continue to walk for a long time the verga that limits the edge of the Urbasa plateau, until we reach Santa Marina, a hermitage in an excellent viewpoint over the Sakana Valley (Barranca or Corridor of the Barranca).
And from there we already go down the PR-NA 130, which takes us from Erminta from Santa Marina to Iturmendi. On a tour of the old path that descends from the edge of the Sierra de Urbasa ridge, passing through the beech forest and with magnificent views.
And from Iturmendi we return by track to Bakaiku our starting point.
(Route recovered from May 2012).
