Navalagamella-Cerro Alarcón-Rio Perales

We start the route from Navalagamella heading towards the Nuestra Señora de La Estrella Parish Church and then towards the Calvary Position Bunker, a fortification from the Civil War, commonly known as the Navalagamella Bunker, located at the intersection of the M- 510, and was built to repel a possible counteroffensive by the republic after the bloody Battle of Brunete.

We continue along the track that leads us down towards La Vivara and then we turn right along the Picadas Reservoir Conduction track and later we leave it to turn left and go along paths towards the Arroyo de la Veguilla and from there We take the Colada del Camino de Quijorna. In this environment we are already beginning to fall in love with the green of the moss on the large granite rocks.

We go down a beautiful path until we cross the Perales River through the Puente del Pasadero, of medieval origin. Then we went up to the Cerro de Alarcón Urbanization and then down to the Cerro de Alarcón Reservoir dam.

We cross the reservoir along its right bank towards the entrance of the water of the Perales River and at its end, we cross it by the Picadas Reservoir Conduction Bridge. Then we continue upstream along the Colada de Navalaperdiz and Molino Serrano path. It is the most beautiful section of the route, you can judge by the photos, and it is totally unknown.

Along the colada, we delight ourselves taking photos and enjoying it, to get to cross the M-510 road where we join the Senda de Los Molinos del Rio Perales. We continue up the Perales River, this area is already more visited and is more open and less green, but equally interesting in terms of landscape and its history of its remains of two old water mills, “cube mills”, built in the Middle Ages. The first we find is the Baltasar mill, and the second is the Altillo mill, a very curious construction that was used to take advantage of low-flow rivers. You can still see the channel that diverted the water and the “tube” through which the water fell, activating the mill.

We continue to the medieval bridge of El Hoyo, now recently rebuilt with the stones that have been found near its base. At this point we leave the Perales River to return to Navalagamella through the Cañada Real Leonesa, turning from the Senda de los Milinos del Río Perales.

In its final section we make the variant to the Path that takes us to the town of Navalagamella and where we close the day with a good cocido at the Km.0 restaurant.
