Las Rozas – Abantos Mountain

We start the route from Molino de la Hoz in Las Rozas de Madrid. And we leave through the Molino de la Hoz Dam, pedaling along the trails that lead us to pass the Retamar Bridge.

At this point we begin the ascent to Colmenarejo, known as El Mortirolo. We take it easy until we reach Cerro del Paredón at 842 meters above sea level.

We cross Colmenarejo and leave through the Cañada Real de las Merinas on the Camino de Madrid. Going up to the Hermitage of Our Lady of Solitude in Colmenarejo. And then we go down the paths parallel to the Cañada and that lead us to the Valmayor Swamp. We take a stretch of asphalt and continue walking to the Los Arroyos dam.

We continue along the trails of Los Arroyos until the end of Navalquejigo where we already turn towards San Lorenzo de El Escorial. But before going up, we do a refreshment station at Paco Pastel.
Then we go up Mount Abantos by the asphalt zeta closed to car traffic and that lead us to the Puerto de Malagón.

From there we start the descent, but this by the now classic Zetas de Abantos (16 Zetas). And by track we go down to the center of San Lorenzo de El Escorial and then go down to Escorial and enter the field through the Camino de Navalquejigo. We pass through the Casa del Cerro and connect with the path that leads us to Colmenarejo where we will stop for a sandwich (we are already accumulating hours, kilometers and unevenness).

Now we have the strength to overcome the Cerro del Paredón and get off the Mortirolo and return to Molino de la Hoz.
