We started from the Conventual Hospedería Sierra de Gata in San Martín de Trevejo, Cáceres. Where we have stayed as Kings!
And without further ado we start pedaling up towards the Molino de los Frailes. And further on we come to the path of the Navasfrías and we roll up it as well, but enjoying this forest and its fallen leaves during this autumn-winter. Later we exit to the DSA-390 highway and we immediately leave it at km15 to take the track that goes to the right. At this point we have already outlined the entire Jálama peak of 1,492 meters above sea level throughout its northwest face. Then our track turns into a stonier path.
We are almost at the highest levels of the day when we cross the Regato de los Alisos and later we start descending on the most beautiful part of the route. The Camino del Payo from which you can enjoy an area view of the Sierra de Gata as you go down these ancient contraband paths on the slopes of Jálama.
Finally, we end up in Villamiel, surroundings of Viñedos Históricos Sierra de Gata. And by footpath, in its first stretch of ascent, we arrived at the town of San Martín de Trevejo where we were very struck by the fact that our street names had a double linguistics. And that we later learned that in those towns of the Jálama Valley, they traditionally had a dialect, Fala.
And now we just had to drop down to our accommodation and take a bath in the jacuzzi!
