The Cuerda Larga is one of the main mountainous branches of the Sierra de Guadarrama with a maintained height of more than 2,100 meters above sea level. And in its night version, a classic in the summer season and more specifically around the Summer Solstice, when the day is longer and the night is shorter. This time, we have joined the outing organized by Miguel Ángel. We have gathered 13 in total and everything has been perfectly organized. We have started around 10:30 a.m. in the Puerto de Guadarrama and we have traveled the Cuerda Larga, formed by the following mountains, ordered from west to east:
- Bola del Mundo o Alto de las Guarramillas, 2265 m
- Cerro de Valdemartín, 2283 m
- Cabeza de Hierro Menor, 2374 m
- Cabeza de Hierro Mayor, 2383 m
- Peña Vaqueros, 2233 m
- Loma de Pandasco, 2238 m
- Navahondilla, 2234 m
- Asómate de Hoyos, 2242 m
- Loma de Bailanderos, 2133 m
- La Najarra, 2120 m
The Cuerda Larga crossing is a path that you can consider difficult, of those that exist throughout the Community of Madrid, due to its great length (20.64 km) and accumulated difference in altitude (1,077 m). However, it does not require great technical knowledge about climbing if it is done outside the snow or ice season. During the route you can see the sunset, the moon rise depending on the chosen day and see the sunrise on the last peaks. An experience in a perfect company.
