Azohia – Picadera Arch

We start the route at Azohía beach and follow the GR-92 northwards, leaving the sea on our right.

After the first steep climb, we arrive at the Santa Elena Tower, also known as the La Azohia Tower, it is one of the towers designed in the 16th century within the coastal surveillance system.

We continue climbing, accompanied by the marks of the GR-92, along the entire coast and enjoying the beautiful views of the Sierra de la Muela, Cabo Tiñoso and Roldán Protected Natural Area.

The GR takes us to the Collado de los Siete Cucones under the antennas of the hill of the same name. This is a point of magnificent views of the entire bay of Mazarrón. Here we will return to close the route later. Now we continue with the GR-92 until the paved track that goes up to the antennas. Right at this point we leave the GR-92 and go down the track until we cross the RM-E23 road that takes you to the Battery of Catillitos in Cabo Tiñoso.

Now we have the final stretch. We go up and don’t expect to see the arch until you almost reach it. But there it is. The beautiful Arco de la Picadera.

Then we make our way to the Collado de los Siete Cucones where we close the route along the path that will take us to Azohía.
