Today’s route will take us from the Dalmatian coast and we’ll visit the Vransko Lake Nature Park.
It’s a circular route starting from Pakoštane, a coastal town in Croatia, located between the Adriatic Sea and Lake Vrana. The area is known for its natural landscape, which combines beaches, hills, and views of the lake. Many hiking trails around Pakoštane include paths along the coast, Mediterranean forests, and sections by Lake Vrana (Vransko Jezero), which is the largest natural lake in Croatia.
We start walking south along the Adriatic coast on marked trails between coves and pine forests until we reach Drage, where we turn onto coastal trails and climb Kuerla Mala hill, which stands at 111 meters above sea level. It is recognized by a cross made of two wooden sticks on top of a large stone cairn, and from there you can see the Dalmatian coast, dotted with islands over the blue Adriatic and the green waters of Lake Vrana.
We descend through the town of Drage and approach Lake Vrana. We then return on the cycling trail that runs parallel to the lake and the Adriatic until we close our loop in Pakoštane, where we will have lunch and take a swim.
