Murter-Betina

The circular hiking route we started in Betina and then went through Murter. This area is ideal for those who enjoy hiking and nature, as it allows you to explore paths that lead to quiet places, hidden beaches and crystal-clear waters.

Once past Murter and its coves, we climbed up to the former Raduč Defensive Point, built during World War II. This system of underground bunkers and tunnels was used to protect the coast from possible attacks, particularly from Italian warships. The fortifications included strategically placed artillery positions to defend the area. The site offers not only historical importance, but also stunning views of the Adriatic Sea, making it an interesting combination of military history and nature.

We then went down and climbed Brštine, a hill on the island of Murter. Although it is not one of the highest peaks, it offers stunning panoramic views of the Kornati archipelago and the Adriatic Sea.

This is an easy hike with gentle elevation changes, ideal for beginner hikers. The route follows the coast of Murter Island, offering views of the Adriatic Sea, and passes through pine forests and beaches. One of the highlights is the charming village of Betina, known for its traditional architecture and peaceful atmosphere. In addition, traditional events such as the Betina lateen sail boat regatta are held on the island. The small village of Betina is also renowned for its wooden shipbuilding heritage, which has been kept alive for centuries.
