Aledo – Arboleja Strait

We start the route from the Plaza de la Diputación in Aledo, Murcia. From there, we walk through the village until we reach its Castle, where we take photos at the Mirador del Infierno.

We contour the Walls of Aledo and then descend to the Fuente Allá Abajo (that’s how simple it is 😉). We continue past Patalache (Cueva de la Mauta) and exit through the remains of the abandoned Monte Aledo Resort urbanization project at Cabezo de Molino, at 644 meters above sea level.

At the end, we connect with the parking lot of the Estrecho de la Arboleja, a place of Geological Interest that can be visited through an easy hiking route, suitable for families.

The Estrecho de la Arboleja or Estrecho de la Agualeja is a small part of the Rambla de Lébor, a watercourse that comes from Sierra Espuña, crossing arid terrain and forming small pools and whimsical shapes molded by erosion when the rambla swells after torrential rains.

The section of the Estrecho de la Arboleja is about 400 meters long, where the rambla narrows deeply, with walls separated by 5-10 meters and a depth between 40 to 60 meters, creating a shady and dark space where little light enters.

We continue down the rambla, visiting the aqueduct and heading towards Los Sifones, where we turn to cross the Rambla de los Molinos, the lowest point of the route at 465 meters above sea level.

All that remains is the ascent to the village of Aledo, where we started this route.
