Castelldefels – Turó del Fanxó – Puig del Pi – La Morella

A demanding, varied route through the heart of the Garraf

We start in the Muntanyeta area of Castelldefels, next to La Ginesta School, and head towards the Can Roca Picnic Area, passing by the Basses de Can Roca. Soon after, we warm up with the stairs that lead us to the base of Cal Ganxo, one of the classic gateways into the Garraf massif.

Further on, we pass by the Roca Negra, a small limestone formation made up of a short wall and a slender pinnacle. With routes between 10 and 20 metres, it used to be a very local climbing spot, now mostly abandoned but still interesting to see in the middle of the Garraf Natural Park.

We continue climbing up to the Coll or Pas de la Mare de Déu, and from there we tackle the Turó del Fanxó (278.9 m), the first real viewpoint of the day. We descend towards Peu de Santa Maria, where a new steady ascent begins, taking us up to the Puig del Pi. The trail then eases for a short stretch until the Puig del Cérvol, where the final climb begins on the western slope of the Puig de l’Olla.

We pass the Bassot de l’Arbre and continue until reaching the old Garraf landfill, a huge scar that the restoration project has tried to heal after more than thirty years of receiving the waste of Barcelona and its metropolitan area.

At Campgràs we turn right, walk past the ruins of the same name, and take on the last stretch to the summit of La Morella, the highest point of the massif at 594 m. La Morella is an accessible yet wild peak: white limestone, sinkholes, Mediterranean scrubland and a wide-open horizon facing the sea. It’s one of the best places in the Garraf for panoramic photos and elevation training.

The return is quick and straightforward, simply following the same path back.
