We are about to embark on this route to the photogenic rock known as the surfboard. To do this, we climb to Collado Bermejo of Sierra Espuña and follow the trails, being able to enjoy views of Morrón. An impressive wall of Cerro de Espuña at 1,583 masl.
And upon reaching Peña Apartada, a singularly peculiar rock formation rises, known by various names such as “surfboard”, “lion king stone”, “rock”, “plate” or simply “The Board”. Upon closer inspection, with a touch of imagination, the suitability of these names becomes apparent, as from certain angles, this rocky outcrop appears to surf the waves (with Morrón in the background) in a sea of lush vegetation.
We descend along the Los Ballesteros slope, which via trails leads us back to the road, just a few meters from Collado Bermejo where we had left the car.
