We are going to do a route inspired by a track by our friend Rubén. Great connoisseur of the area!
We start it in the town of Gata in the middle of the Sierra de Gata and we roll downhill crossing the Rio Negrón to exit the Roman road of the PR-CC 189 Ruta de Las Fuentes until we cross the road CC-6.2 where we take the track of the Ascent of the Almenara.
Then we take a detour along the Camino de la Candeleda until we go down to La Torre de Don Miguel, to go out along the Welcome Path that goes up to Colmenarito.
There we take the track of the Ascent to the Almenara that leads us to the Puerto de Castilla, which, as its name suggests, is the entrance to Salamanca. There we turn to close the track going down the Roman Calzada Vía Dalmacia Path (PR-CC 185 – Puerto Castilla – Sierra de Gata Paths). It is a constant descent down the western slope of the Sierra de las Jañonas.
Immediately we arrive at the hermitage of San Blas and later we pass by the precise San Blas Bridge, which crosses the river of the same name.
And finally, the road takes us to the town of Gata. A beautiful route through the Sierra de Gata, always turning around and guarded by the secular watchtower of the Torre de la Almenara.
Thanks Rubén!
