Ojos-Albos Mountain

We started from the small town of Ojos-Albos in Avila to walk through the mountain range that bears his name.

We start by the cattle area of Colladillo and Peña Serrana until we reach the Arroyo de Valdeláguila, a tributary of Voltoya. Soon we crossed it to ascend a few meters to reach the shelter of the Peña Mingovela, a hole facing north, where we can contemplate admiring the cave paintings. They were discovered in 1974 and are located on the epochs of the end of the Bronze and Late Medieval.

We continue upstream and that we will continue practically in all its length and crossing it several times. The ascent is soft and it becomes very bearable between the green zone of the bank.

We passed by the house of the Serradilla, in total ruins, and follow us upstream gently until almost its birth. But first we turn right to make the strongest climb of the day next to the slope of stones. That takes us to Alto de la Cabeza, 1655 m., From where we can contemplate the Voltoya River plain with its Serones Reservoir crossed capriciously by the AV-500 road.

We continue along the track of the Ojos-Albos wind farm up to the highest point of the day and the mountains. The geodesic point of the Iron Cross, 1662 m.

We follow the whole windmill rope through the Cañada del Portacavelo and the TV repeater. From where we started down the path of the Atalaya to turn, and almost down, to the left by the Camino de la Sierra that returns us to the town of Ojos-Albos.

And what better way to close the day than trying some good machaconas at the Venta de La Miel ofVicolozano.

Good route and better company of Luis that opens in these exits. … Come, let’s plan the next one!
