Silver Forest and Water Routes

We started from the parking of the Restaurant Nuestra Señora de Fátima and we start walking along the paved track that takes us to La Jarosa Merendero refuge. From here we follow the unpaved track and perfectly marked with green-white SL markings with a gray dot, called “Silver Forest”. We continue up the track parallel to the Arroyo de la Calle de los Alamos to its source where we enjoy the viewpoint of the Forest.

From there we can contemplate the size of the Sierra de Guadarrama and the reason for the name of the route. “Silver Forest”, comes from the whitish gray color of the trunk of the pine trees (Pinus nigra). A scarce species of the Sierra.

We continue along the track towards the Barranco del Tomillar, where at the junction of Camino de la Carrasqueta, we make a section of low vegetation to meet the paths of Arroyo Picazuelo. This second part is more beautiful and the descent between the stream and the Great Fence of Felipe II. We arrived at the track and we found the marks of the SL green-white with a blue point that called “In Search of Water” and that takes us to the Embalse de La Jarosa and in our starting point where we took the opportunity to make a bite.

Tranquil.la route. Easy despite your mileage.
