The beautiful slate architecture that we are going to enjoy on this route, through 5 Black Towns of Guadarlajara following the GR 60, is the product of a way of life that we must first understand.
Life in these towns of the Sierra de Guadarrama dates back to pre-Roman times that lived isolated due to the characteristics of the place and the time. The crisis of the Roman Empire means that, in the 3rd century, the small population that occupied the area and lived on the wool of transhumance ended up shooting up. But the arrival of the Muslims brings a long period of instability to these lands. Like the whole Sierra, it was the border between the Muslim and Christian kingdoms. And already in the 20th century, where a massive depopulation occurs in the years of development (1957-1969).
We start the route in the town of Campillo de Las Ranas. And we are going to follow the GR60 towards the North along a precise path, with bridges and parcel buildings of slate architecture, fully signposted. We arrive at Robleluengo, and from there we turn east, also along trails until we reach Majaelrayo. Now we have to make the longest run to the South and in sections along the track towards Campillejo.
From Campillejo we left along a beautiful path towards El Espinar and there we decided to shorten it, at this point we left the GR-60, to return to Campillo de Las Ranas along the path parallel to the road.
And what better plan to close the day than to wear out the local dishes.
